HISTORY

Our Faculty, established under the responsibility of Gazi University with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 15.05.2006 and numbered 10440, was affiliated to Çankırı Karatekin University with the law dated 17.05.2007 and numbered 5662. After the approval of the establishment of five departments (Painting, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Textile Design and Sculpture) by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), students were admitted to the Painting, Graphic Design and Ceramic Departments for the first time in the 2007-2008 academic year, and the education started in the Directorate of Agriculture building which was allocated by Çankırı Governorship. The Faculty was moved to the building, which was rented from the directorate of PTT (Postal, Telegraph and Telephone) next year, and its interior was redesigned considering the structure and characteristics of the Faculty. The Music Department, established in 2009, admitted its first students in 2013. The Textile Design Department, with its new name "Fashion and Textile Design" and new structure, admitted its first students in 2015. And the Cinema TV Department, established in 2015, admitted its first students in 2016. Efforts for making the Departments of Traditional Turkish Arts (established in 2018) and Department of Interior Architecture (established in 2021) active are in progress. With the decision numbered 2916 published in the Official Gazette dated 31 August 2020, the name of our Faculty was changed as "Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture".
