Çankırı Karatekin University`s Department of Cinema and Television is organizing a meaningful film screening day to draw attention to Israel`s ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people and raise awareness.
The event will take place on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 1:30 PM in the Ahmet Yesevi Conference Hall. Our entire community and students are invited to the event, themed “Cinema for Palestine.”
As part of the program, short films shot by students of the Department of Cinema and Television will be screened. These films are original productions that reflect the students` sensitivity to the Palestinian issue and their perspectives on human rights and freedom.
Following the screenings, the internationally acclaimed documentary film “5 Broken Cameras,” directed by Palestinian director Emad Burnat and Israeli director Guy Davidi, will be shown. The film narrates the resistance of a Palestinian family living in the West Bank through the story of five different cameras being broken, revealing the true face of life under occupation.
Following the screening, a discussion will be held with Associate Professor Tunç Boran, Head of the Department of Cinema and Television, moderated by lecturer Salih Köse, to evaluate the documentary`s cinematographic narrative, forms of testimony, and the concept of “resistance cinema.”
The event aims to provide young filmmakers with an opportunity to share their conscientious perspectives while reminding us that cinema can be more than just an art form—it can be the voice of justice, resistance, and humanity.
